2012 is the 4th consecutive year that the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment held the event of Vietnam Sea and Islands in response to the World Environment Day and the World Ocean Day with the theme "Vietnam will become more prosperous and stronger from the sea ". This is an occasion to honor the strength and potentials of the sea and islands of Vietnam; arouse awareness and responsibility of the social classes to the sacred waters and island of the country.

The Con Dao district in collaboration with the Con Dao National Park to organize for more than 30 union members and youth to clean out the Hon Bay Canh area, collect garbage, plastic, bottles, plastic cans, old shoes ... at the point of mangroves, Bo Dap and Cat Lon beaches. Unionists, young people had collected around 50 bags of garbage of all kinds, cleaned approximately 2.5 km of seashore.

At Chau Duc district, on June 05, nearly 700 representatives from the departments, sectors, unions and communes and towns in the district attended the rally in response to the World Environment Day and the World Ocean Day as well as the Vietnam Sea and Island Week.
