First int'l standard liner route opens

Vinashin Lines' new international standard liner Hoa Sen will start operating from northern Quang Ninh Province to southern Ho Chi Minh City in mid-December.

The ship, from Italy, can carry 1,000 passengers and 500 cars.

The 187-meter, seven-story Hoa Sen has luxurious cabins and modern conveniences, including a bar, karaoke, massage, fax and internet services.

The ship is designed to ride smoothly in all conditions, even during high winds common during the monsoon months.

The liner's 48-hour route will connect Hon Gai Port in Quang Ninh and Nha Rong Port in HCMC, with an eight-hour stop at Chan May Port in central Thua Thien Hue Province.

Vinashin plans to buy another liner from Italy to reduce the cruise time to 28 hours next year.
