  APM-Saigon Shipping launches new services

APM-Saigon Shipping Co. today launches a new service from HCMC to Taiwan's Kaohsiung using the ship Waal Trader

The service provides weekly departures for both local and transshipment cargo to the Taiwanese hub port while its return legs offer shippers fast connections from Taiwan and HCMC to Cambodia’s Sihanoukville and Thailand’s Laem Chabang.

The shipping firm on November 19 started a service from the city to Singapore and Malaysia's Tanjung Pelepas using the Pioneer Star.

APM-Saigon Shipping yesterday moved its head office to 28 Phung Khac Khoan Street in District 1, HCMC from the Landmark Building at 5B Ton Due Thang Street in the same district.

The company already moved its vessel operations to the Cat Lai Terminal at the mouth of the Saigon River from the Saigon New Port in the city’s District 1.

APM-Saigon Shipping general manager Michael Them Rasmussen said, "With a booming trade in and out of the city and the ever growing volumes, we've realized the need for an expansion and to move to a new facility that can long term provide for a better operation of our vessels."

APM-Saigon Shipping, a joint venture between A.P. Moller-Maersk Group and Saigon Shipping Co., also has a branch in Haiphong and another in Danang. It now operates 14 vessels with tonnage of between 4,000 am 12,000 DWT each.
