Most Vietnamese ships and seaports meet ISPS requirements

Ninety-five per cent of Vietnam's ships and seaports have fulfilled the requirements set by the International Code for Security of Ships and Port Facilities (ISPS), according to the Vietnam National Maritime Bureau (Vinamarine).

Vinamarine said in a recent report since the ISPS Code came into effect on July 1, 2004, no Vietnamese ships have been detained at any foreign ports for violating the ISPS Code.

The International Maritime Organisation, Japan, Singapore and Australia have appreciated the Vietnamese government’s positive attitude concerning this code, according to a Vinamarine report released in mid-December 2004.
