  BR-VT to have 5 main port groups by 2020

Mr. Tran Ngoc Thoi, Vice Chairman of BRVT Provincial Peoples Committee ( PPC) has signed Decision No. 34/2001 PPC on the approval of the detailed plan of the BR-VT province inland waterway transport until 2020.

Under a plan approved : port system newly built will include five major port groups , of which group I will be served as marine port cargo entrepôt and industrial zones will include 22 ports, with a total length of newly built wharf of 9605m and area of 825,3 ha. Group II is a port to serve welfare of the people including three ports such as Ba Ria 1, Cay Khe and Baria 2, with a total wharf length of 1.610m and an area of about 101.5 ha. Group III is the port of construction materials and specialization with nine projects; group IV is port for passenger with 4 projects and group V is the potential port at the downstream of the Cha Va bridge on Cha Va river

    System of inland waterways will be developed from now to 2015, with 50km long lanes mostly following improved natural rivers.
