The sea-based economy of Kien Giang has grown more than 18 percent a year (VEN) - Kien Giang province is boosting the development of the sea-based economy, expecting that by 2020 the sea-based economy will create 78-80 percent of total gross domestic product (GDP) of the province. Other projections for 2015 are to upgrade the city of Rach Gia into a second-class city, the town of Ha Tien into a third-class city, and to turn Phu Quoc island district into a modern tourism city of the whole country.
