History

• On Nov. 11th 1193, the President of Vietnam Maritime Bureau (Vinamarine) sent proposal to Ministry of Transport and Communications (MOTC) and Prime Minister regarding the setting up of Vietnam Seaports Association and decision on Preparatory Committee for the VPA inauguration Meeting.
   
• On Jan. 1st 1994, The Prime Minister approved the setting up of Vietnam Seaports Association by a decision No 51/KTN.
   
• Decision No. 945-QD/TCCB-LD on June 25th 1994 of Minister of the MOCT appointing
   
• Vinamarine to proceed setting up VPA
   
• On Aug. 15th 1994, the Meeting for setting up VPA at Ho Chi Minh City
   
• On Sep.  26th 1994, Letter No. 1571/CV-TCCB-LD was sent by Vinamarine to MOTC regarding the approval of VPA charter and organization
   
• On Jan. 10th 1995, letter No. 09/TCCB-LD of HCMC State Organization Department of HCMC regarding concurring the setting up VPA and location of the VPA Head Office in HCMC at No. 3 Nguyen Tat Thanh Street, District 4
   
• On Jan. 19th 1996, a Decision No. 305/VPUB of Government Office approving the adherence of VPA to ASEAN Ports Association (APA) as a regular member
