CONTAINER TRANSPORTATION SOLUTIONS FOR CONNECTING CARGOES IN THE AREA, TRANSIT CARGOES FROM LAOS, NORTH-EAST THAILAND THROUGH VUNG ANG PORT – HA TINH PROVINCE

After 02 months since the maiden call at Laos – Viet International Port, currently, Tan Cang Shipping JSC (Tan Cang Shipping) has completed the weekly operation for the sea transport service connecting Hai Phong – Vung Ang (Ha Tinh) – Ho Chi Minh City and vice versa, to meet the demand of customers in Ha Tinh, the North Central region for transit goods from Laos and the Northeast provinces of Thailand.

Besides transporting import and export containers for big customers as Formosa, the sea transportation service has attracted many customers whose transit goods are potassium fertilizers, titanium ore. These goods are packed in containers in Vung Ang and exported through Hai Phong ports and Ho Chi Minh ports to the world…. With a frequency of 2 trips/week, Tan Cang Shipping and Laos – Viet International Port (Vung Ang) offer businesses in the area and provinces in the region with a new choice, cost-effective option, contributing to diversifying the transportation modes. Cargoes which transported from Laos through the border gates Cau Treo (Ha Tinh), Cha Lo (Quang Binh), Lao Bao (Quang Tri) are conveniently connecting to Laos – Viet International Port.

The transport solution of the bulk cargo vessels, with a throughput of up to 32 million tons in 2020, is the strength of Vung Ang Port – Son Duong Port. Additionally, Tan Cang Shipping’s container service plays a vital role in promoting cooperation between Vietnam and Laos. With the advantages of the East-West economic corridor, the connection of the North Central economic region with the primary seaport system in Hai Phong and Ho Chi Minh, the container service through Laos – Viet International Port serves the domestic and international import/export and trading activities.

With the companionship and support of the Leader and departments of Ha Tinh province, and many import-export customers in the area, as well as neighboring regions, who shows immense interest in this new service, Tan Cang Shipping, expected to increase the frequency of the container service via Vung Ang Port to 2 trips/week. The aims are to connect goods for businesses, cost-saving, creating the foundation to develop the marine economic pillar, contributing to the general development of the socio-economic of Ha Tinh province and neighboring regions.
