On 16 July 2026, the Vietnam Seaports Association (VPA), in collaboration with the Vietnam Green Transformation Association (VGA) and co-chaired by the Vietnam Maritime and Waterways Administration (VMA), successfully hosted the online seminar “Vietnam Green Ports 2026” – Session 2.

In his opening remarks, Mr. Le Minh Dao, Deputy Director General of the Vietnam Maritime and Waterways Administration, emphasized that while Vietnam’s seaport system continues to grow rapidly in terms of scale, operational capacity, and cargo throughput, the sector also faces increasing pressure to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and meet environmental requirements. He noted that green transformation is no longer an option, but an essential pathway for achieving Vietnam’s commitment to net-zero emissions by 2050.
Bringing together representatives from government agencies, port operators, industry associations, and technical experts, the seminar provided a platform for practical discussions on Green Port criteria, greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions inventory and reporting, MRV requirements, and practical approaches to implementing green transformation in the port sector.

The panel discussion also featured active engagement from participants, with many questions and insights reflecting the real-world challenges faced by port enterprises in their transition toward greener and more sustainable operations. The exchange of perspectives between regulators, industry experts, and businesses highlighted both current challenges and opportunities for future collaboration.
VPA sincerely thanks the Vietnam Maritime and Waterways Administration, VGA, BSI Vietnam, our distinguished speakers, and all participants for their valuable contributions and active participation in making the seminar a success.
