On 22 May, the Vietnam Seaports Association (VPA) participated in the Sweden-Vietnam Conference on Smart, Green Port & Maritime Transition as part of a high-level Vietnamese delegation led by the Ministry of Construction, with the participation of Vietnam Maritime Corporation (VIMC), Saigon Newport Corporation, and Hai Phong Port.

Representing VPA, Chairman Huynh Van Cuong and Vice Chairman Bui Van Quy took part in strategic exchanges and partnership activities aimed at strengthening Vietnam-Sweden cooperation in sustainable maritime development.
A key highlight was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between VPA and Business Sweden – The Swedish Trade and Invest Council, represented by Trade Commissioner Mr. Marcus Persson. The signing took place in the presence of the Vice Minister of Construction and the Trade Counsellor of Vietnam in Sweden. The MoU confirms Sweden’s support for the VPA Annual Conference 2026, including the establishment of a Swedish national pavilion at the event.

During the visit, VPA also held a productive working session with the Port of Gothenburg, represented by Mr. Richard Mellgren, and presented a token of appreciation as a gesture of strengthened cooperation.

This collaboration marks an important step in advancing green, smart, and resilient port and maritime development, while further deepening Sweden-Vietnam partnership. VPA looks forward to carrying this positive momentum forward to Quy Nhon, Vietnam, in September 2026.
