Vietnam Seaports Association
From November 2026, the Vietnam Seaports Association (VPA) is changing the way it compiles, analyses and publishes container throughput statistics for Vietnam’s seaports.
Alongside the monthly data table, VPA will publish analytical reports by port cluster and by cargo type, presented with clear visual charts, in Vietnamese and English. The reports show growth trends, the cargo mix and shifts between port clusters, helping businesses, regulators and investors understand the market faster and more accurately.
Highlights from the first nine months of 2026:
- Container throughput at Vietnam’s seaports reached 21.7 million TEU, up 9.2% year on year.
- The deep-water clusters of Cai Mep – Thi Vai and Lach Huyen handled 39% of volume and generated almost 69% of the growth.
- Transshipment was the fastest-growing cargo type this year.
