The “Vietnam Green Ports 2026″ Seminar, jointly organized by the Vietnam Maritime and Waterways Administration and the Vietnam Seaports Association, was held on the morning of April 10, 2026 at Phuoc An Port, Nhon Trach District, Dong Nai Province.
Attending the workshop were a delegation from the Vietnam Maritime and Waterways Administration led by Mr. Le Minh Dao, Deputy Administrator of the Viet Nam Maritime and Waterway Administration; Mr. Huynh Van Cuong, Chairman of the Vietnam Seaports Association; representatives of the Vietnam Seaports Association; leaders of Maritime Administrations, specialized state management agencies, and relevant associations. The seminar welcomed more than 100 guests and delegates from member ports, along with nearly 30 participants joining online.
The seminar was attended by a large number of representatives from member ports, shipping lines, and port-logistics enterprises.

The seminar was organized to disseminate orientations and policies of the Vietnam Maritime and Waterways Administration regarding the development of green ports in Vietnam. Speakers and experts participating in the seminar included: Ms. Tran Thi Tu Anh (Deputy Head, Department of Science, Technology and Environment, Vietnam Maritime and Waterways Administration), Mr. Nguyen Xuan Ky (Secretary General, Vietnam Seaports Association), Mr. Pham Hoai Trung (Vice Chairman, Vietnam Green Transition Association; Head of ESG/Net Zero and Science & Technology Committee; Chairman of the Members’ Council, GreenGo), Mr. Vo Tri Dung (Generral Director of Portonova JSC), Ms. Do Thu Ly (Country Head, ING Bank Vietnam), Ms. Lai Minh Thuy (Head of Trade and Treasury Solutions, Citibank Vietnam), Mr. Travis Mitchell (Executive Director, American Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam), Ms. Hanna Pors (Deputy Consul General of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Ho Chi Minh City), Mr. Bui Van Quy (Deputy General Director, Saigon Newport Corporation).
During the seminar, presenters delivered a range of in‑depth presentations related to the legal framework for green ports and the Net Zero roadmap of Vietnam’s maritime sector in the context of international integration. The discussions focused on green port policies, regulations and development orientations; the implementation progress and evaluation of pilot green port programs as a basis for nationwide expansion; the impacts of Net Zero requirements from the IMO, the European Union, and the United States on maritime transport, logistics, and seaports in Vietnam; requirements for greenhouse gas inventory, reporting and emissions management in accordance with international standards; technological solutions for emissions reduction at ports, including Onshore Power Supply (OPS); and the role of green finance, financing instruments, and international capital in supporting green port projects.
Through the presentations, the seminar provided information on technical requirements, standards, implementation roadmaps, and financial mechanisms related to the green transition of Vietnam’s seaport system.

At the conclusion of the seminar, participants shared a common understanding of the need to promote green transition and green port development within Vietnam’s seaport system, while emphasizing the importance of timely updates on relevant policies, standards, and regulations. The seminar noted the orientation to further strengthen coordination between the Vietnam Maritime and Waterways Administration and the Vietnam Seaports Association, with a view to establishing a proactive information channel to support seaports in accessing and implementing relevant policy contents in the coming period.
The Organizing Committee stated that the opinions and discussions at the workshop will be consolidated to support information dissemination and subsequent implementation activities.
